According to the 2016 Survey of Consumer Finances, the Federal Reserve found that people age 75 and older were the most likely group to directly own stocks. People age 65 to 74 were the third most likely to own at 15.2 percent, just below the 55 to 64 age group at 15.5 percent directly owning stocks.
