Unless you need the extra room for passengers or additional trunk space, it always makes financial sense to opt for the economy class of rental car. At rental car chain Enterprise, an economy rental costs $24.99 per day, while a premium rental costs $44.99 per day. If you’re renting a car for multiple days, those savings can really add up. And you usually end up getting a better car than you pay for anyway. Although rental car sites usually show a subcompact car as their example of the economy rental, they rarely actually have these super-small cars on the lot, according to The Points Guy. The travel advice site says that if you select the smallest rental car class, you are likely to get a free upgrade on-site, so why shell out the extra cash?.
