In 1960, the life expectancy in Canada was 71 years old, which didn’t leave seniors a long time to enjoy their retirement. In 2016, retirees can expect to live 11 years longer, with an average life expectancy of 82 years.
This increased longevity will lead new retirees to rethink their retirement plan. They’ll have to make sure they have enough money for the next 10, 15, or 20 years of their lives, if not longer.
